NovNov attempt. I started the Pro Writing Aid Novel November challenge with strong energy. I crafted five fairly good chapters, each revving up momentum for the next. Then life got in the way, as it usually does. One minute I was vibrating with creative power and the next I struggled with writing one more sentence. Ah, well. I’ve learned to listen to my creative pulse. At least I have a new novel started. I think it’s a good one, too.

This month’s writing task is to craft a value statement that will guide your writing for the year ahead. What kind of writer do you want to be? What are your goals? What writing practice will support you?

Your outcome will naturally depend on your particular variables (your job, responsibility for family, health, etc.), but how you allocate your resources ultimately depends on your underlying value system, so it’s best to understand what you truly value.

A value statement is a declaration of your core beliefs that guide your decisions and behavior. It outlines what you stand for. Once you have a clear value statement, making decisions about how you will allocate your resources becomes easier.
